On November 13, 2014 to May 1, 2015 in the central building of the Benaki Museum will host the exhibition "friendly circle of El Greco in Toledo."
The purpose of the exhibition is to pay tribute to the scientists, collectors and patrons, the former close friends of El Greco (Domenikos Theotokopoulos) in the period of his life in the capital of the Spanish province - in the city of Toledo, who inspired and maintained a great artist throughout his career.
The exhibition includes important archival materials provided by the archives of the City of Toledo (Archivo Municipal de Toledo, Archivo Provincial de Toledo, Biblioteca de Castilla-La Mancha) and Madrid (Archivo Historico de Protocolos de Madrid), as well as books and manuscripts from the National Library of Spain and four portraits of El Greco from the collection of the National Museum of the Prado (Madrid, Spain), the Museum of El Greco in Toledo and a private collection in London.
The exhibition will be accompanied by a number of scientific publications issued under the art historian and Professor Emeritus of the University of Crete Nikos Hadzinikolau.

The official opening will be held on Wednesday, 12 November 2014, at 20:00.
